The Ted Davenport Field at Disharoon Park is one of the premier college baseball facilities in the country. Nestled into a tight, hard-to-access site on the University of Virginia campus, the LEED Silver, 21,000-gross-square-foot expansion delivers a new "front door" for the baseball stadium and a memorable gateway for fans, student-athletes, recruits and visitors.
Spectator experience is enhanced with a new wrap-around elevated concourse, chair back seating, a picnic terrace and a new field-level club. Team training and recruitment benefit from the naturally daylit Player Development Center, batting cages, bullpens and baseball operations suite.
First opened in 2002 and LEED certified, this facility underwent a building expansion that included a new entrance and wraps the concourse around to right-center field. This expanded facility earned LEED Silver certification, achieving energy cost savings of 31% and reducing potable water usage by 30%. Over 95% of on-site generated construction waste was diverted from the landfill and recycled.
The Disharoon Park expansion took what was already a functional facility and made it into one that is better positioned to meet modern expectations for college baseball … to build a more competitive program and offer a comfortable experience for fans.
